35th Wedding Anniversary Ring

Working with a couple to bring their custom jewellery dreams to life has to be one of my favourite parts of this business. Add a beautiful love story celebrating 35 years of marriage with a special place in their hearts for Bermuda, and you have a custom design story for the books!

Meet David & Diane

David, who grew up in Bermuda, brought his beautiful wife Diane here to honeymoon 35 years ago. Since then, they have come back every 5 years and have commemorated each trip with a piece of our Bermuda-inspired jewellery. It has been such a pleasure getting to know them over the years, so when David reached out asking to surprise Diane on their 35th Anniversary trip with a custom ring, we couldn't have been more ecstatic!

The Custom Design Process

When David reached out about creating a custom design, he had been looking through the website and pointed out a few styles he liked, one of which was our barnacle ring. He knew he wanted to showcase an opal, as that is Diane's birthstone, and then we decided to add a diamond - because what woman doesn't love diamonds!?

It's One of a Kind

The final design featured a diamond as the center stone, flanked by an opal on either side. We had a lovely 1.3ct diamond & two 0.5ct opals in our vault, which we had been saving for the 'perfect piece'.

The Ultimate Surprise

Next came organizing the surprise reveal. While Diane thought she was going for breakfast in Hamilton, David led her over to our store for their own private shopping experience.

We greeted them at the door by name, which took Diane by surprise, as she still had no idea David had set this all up. We gave them some champagne and let her know we had a special gift waiting for her. When we presented her with the ring, she could not have been more in love with it! Then we gave her a behind the scenes tour, and ended up chatting about Bermuda's part in their love story.
